Citizens needs to separate their recyclable waste and take it to the Ecopoint for weighing, remembering to store it without leftover food or products so as not to attract insects or generate a bad odor. At the Ecopoint, citizens check the table of values of recyclable waste, as the credit will be calculated according to the weight and types of materials, taking into account the market.
Materials that generate credit in the Fortaleza Recycling Program:
• Glass: Glass packaging, soluble coffee and mayonnaise containers, and bottles of beer, soft drinks and liquor.
•Metal (Except Copper): Iron in general, screws, beer and soft drink cans, stainless steel, antimony, car and motorcycle batteries, lead and bronze.
• Paper: Cardboard, newspapers, books, notebooks, white paper and mixed paper.
• Plastic: Bottles of soft drinks (PET), film, PVC, hose, grocery bags, containers of bleach, margarine and detergent.
• Others: Cooking oil and Tetrapak packaging (milk, juices and chocolate milk).
Materials that DO NOT generate credit in the Fortaleza Recycling Program: debris from small construction works, ceramics or porcelain, furniture, upholstery, wood, plant pruning debris, batteries, cell phones, electronic devices, dirty or laminated paper, egg packaging, powdered soap boxes, aluminized packaging and tires.

Necessary requirements
To access the benefits, citizens are advised to take recyclable waste to the ecopoints according to the list indicated by the program. At the ecopoint, citizens must also take their Coelce bill to register and receive their Fortaleza Recycling Program card.
Service steps
After taking the clean and separated waste, it is weighed at the Ecopoint and there, a table with the values of recyclable waste is available. The credit will be calculated according to the weight and types of materials, taking into account the market values, which change from time to time.
At Ecopoints, citizens can obtain a discount on their energy bill in exchange for their recyclable waste. Another action is the E-Carts, which benefits from the correct disposal of debris, pruning remains and old furniture, generating credit to be used in registered commercial establishments in the region.

In 2015, the implementation of Ecopoints in the city has changed the behavior of the population regarding the disposal of solid waste and selective collection, encouraging the recycling of materials. The equipment is a place of voluntary delivery of recyclable materials and other types of waste in Fortaleza. Currently, there are 48 ecopoints distributed throughout the city.
In 2020, the Fortaleza Recycling and E-cart programs generated a total benefit of more than R$ 5.6 million, distributed to more than 30,000 users and 1,600 carts registered in the system.
