O cidadão precisa separar os resíduos recicláveis e levá-los até o Ecoponto para pesagem, lembrando de armazená-los sem sobra de alimentos ou produtos para não atrair insetos e gerar mau cheiro. No Ecoponto, o cidadão confere a tabela de valores dos resíduos recicláveis, pois o crédito será calculado de acordo o peso e os tipos de materiais, levando em consideração o mercado.
Materiais que geram crédito no Recicla Fortaleza:
• Vidro: Embalagens de vidro, café solúvel e maionese, e garrafas de cerveja, refrigerantes e aguardente.
•Metal (Exceto Cobre): Ferros em geral, parafusos, latas de cerveja e refrigerantes, aço inox, antimônio, baterias de carro e moto, chumbo e bronze.
• Papel: Papelão, jornais, livros, cadernos, papel branco e papel misto.
• Plástico: Garrafas de refrigerantes (PET), filme, PVC, mangueira, sacolas, embalagens de água sanitária, margarina e detergente.
• Outros: Óleo de cozinha e embalagens Tetrapak (leite, sucos e achocolatados).
Materiais que NÃO geram crédito no Recicla Fortaleza: entulhos de obras de pequeno porte, cerâmicas ou porcelanas, móveis, estofados, madeiras, restos de podas de plantas, pilhas, celulares, aparelhos eletroeletrônicos, papel sujo ou plastificado, embalagens de ovos, caixas de sabão em pó, embalagens aluminizadas e pneus.

Necessary requirements
To access the benefits, citizens are advised to take recyclable waste to the ecopoints according to the list indicated by the program. At the ecopoint, citizens must also take their Coelce bill to register and receive their Fortaleza Recycling Program card.
Service steps
After taking the clean and separated waste, it is weighed at the Ecopoint and there, a table with the values of recyclable waste is available. The credit will be calculated according to the weight and types of materials, taking into account the market values, which change from time to time.
At Ecopoints, citizens can obtain a discount on their energy bill in exchange for their recyclable waste. Another action is the E-Carts, which benefits from the correct disposal of debris, pruning remains and old furniture, generating credit to be used in registered commercial establishments in the region.

In 2015, the implementation of Ecopoints in the city has changed the behavior of the population regarding the disposal of solid waste and selective collection, encouraging the recycling of materials. The equipment is a place of voluntary delivery of recyclable materials and other types of waste in Fortaleza. Currently, there are 48 ecopoints distributed throughout the city.
In 2020, the Fortaleza Recycling and E-cart programs generated a total benefit of more than R$ 5.6 million, distributed to more than 30,000 users and 1,600 carts registered in the system.
