Description

O Sistema Nacional de Informações sobre Recursos Hídricos (SNIRH) é um dos instrumentos de gestão previsto na Política Nacional de Recursos Hídricos, instituída pela lei nº 9.433, de 08 de Janeiro de 1997, conhecida como Lei das Águas. Trata-se de um amplo sistema de coleta, tratamento, armazenamento e recuperação de informações sobre recursos hídricos, bem como fatores intervenientes para sua gestão.

Objetivos:
• Reunir, dar consistência e divulgar os dados e informações sobre a situação qualitativa e quantitativa dos recursos hídricos no Brasil;
• Atualizar permanentemente as informações sobre disponibilidade e demanda de recursos hídricos em todo o território nacional; 
• Fornecer subsídios para a elaboração dos Planos de Recursos Hídricos.

The data that supply SNIRH are provided by the regional secretariats (state or municipal) that deal with the water resources agenda.

Implementation Strategy

Conjuncture Report: Conjuncture monitors the state of water resources in the country, offering a set of statistics on water, its uses, and management. Annual publications, produced since 2009 through ANA's partnership with over 50 institutions, provide a structured source of information accessible to society.

Diffusion strategies

All system information is made available virtually through the SNIRH Portal.

Monitoring strategies

SNIRH presents the Indicator Panels: which allow exploring, year by year, basin by basin, State by State, or according to the interest of the user, indicators on topics relevant to water management, such as: grants issued, amounts paid for collection, demands for consumptive uses, evolution and coefficients of irrigated agriculture and indicators of the Sustainable Development Goal SDG 6.
